Wold War ll Veteran Honored

World War ll Veteran and Local Author Honored

World War ll veteran, William “Billie” Armstrong was one of a small band of special guests invited to the U.S. Army Garrison-Kwajalein Atoll in January to commemorate the 71st anniversary of Operation Flintlock. Bill and the other men were part of the campaign against the Marshal Islands in the Pacific campaign of World War ll.

Bill has authored two books detailing the events and his part in the invasion to free the island of Kwajalein from the Imperial Japanese force. Both books, Survival on a Coral Planet and The First Voyage are his eyewitness accounts to this historical event. A special feature of the books is the great collection of photographs Bill included in retelling the dramatic events of the invasion. Booth books are available at amazon.com.
